Nintendo Switch 2

It finally happened—I caved and picked up the Nintendo Switch 2, and not just any version… I went all in with the Mario Kart bundle. That’s right: upgraded hardware, slick packaging, and instant access to blue shells, banana peels, and all the chaos that comes with Mario Kart.

Why the Switch 2?

I’ve been eyeing it since the first rumors dropped, but the official release—and the Mario Kart bundle—was just too good to resist. The improved performance, crisper visuals, and better battery life made it feel like the right time to jump in (or upgrade, if you had the OG Switch). Plus, who doesn’t want a console that travels with you and looks good doing it?

Currently Playing: Tears of the Kingdom

Of course, the first thing I did after setting it up was not race in Mario Kart (yet). Instead, I immediately booted up The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and… wow.

test

It’s everything I hoped for and then some. Vast, mysterious, and constantly whispering “just five more minutes”—and then three hours go by. The sense of freedom is wild. I’ve spent more time experimenting with Zonai devices than actually following the main quest. Zero regrets.

4K 60FPS on the LG C3 = Chef’s Kiss

One of the biggest upgrades? Playing on the LG C3 OLED. I didn’t expect to be this blown away, but yes—4K at 60fps makes everything feel smoother, sharper, and more alive. The colors in TOTK pop, the motion is fluid, and the OLED blacks are just ridiculous. It feels less like I’m playing a game and more like I’ve stepped into a living painting.

Mario Kart in 4K? Let’s just say I’m now drifting through corners with style and cinematic flair.

What’s Next?

I’ll probably do a deeper dive into Tears of the Kingdom as I get further into the story (and the inevitable emotional damage Zelda games always deliver). I’m also considering testing out the Switch 2’s media capabilities and catching up on a few indie titles that slipped past me over the years.

For now, though, it’s back to Hyrule—and maybe a few victory laps on Rainbow Road.
